“Having a two year old is like having a blender that you don’t have the top for” – Jerry Seinfeld

Member for Warren-Blackwood, Terry Redman used this quote as he acknowledged the dedication and patience of childcare workers who play such an important role in the development of our next generation.

The Margaret River Community Centre for Children has come a long way since it first opened in 2004. There has been an extensive waiting list demonstrating the success of this facility and a need for more childcare placements in Margaret River.

“The State Government recognises the need for childcare, and in growing regional areas, investment of Royalties for Regions funds into projects that support the care of children helps build the economic and social development of the area,” Mr Redman said.

“The availability of childcare is an essential component in enabling families to take advantage of work and study options in the region. Access to childcare and quality early education are absolutely key when we talk about creating sustainable and resilient communities,” Mr Redman said.

Mr Redman praised the centre for their vision, planning and hard work in managing funding, building contracts and obtaining an expanded childcare licence.

Lotterywest, the South West Development Commission and the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River have been supportive in seeing this project to fruition. The success of this project can also be measured by the number of other agencies, local businesses and community groups who have contributed to the final project.

Mr Redman extended his congratulations to everyone involved as he officially opened the expanded Centre for Children.
